today, i decided to learn my town's mother language—Mandaya. honestly, there is a subtle indifference between most migrants and Mandaya families. i do not know the roots of this indifference but i often hear migrants associate Mandayas to voodoo practices. i do not care because i have many good Mandaya friends who were not into voodoos. i know they know people who practice voodoos, but they, so far, did not harm me.
Mandaya, as i know, is one of the Philippines' treasured cultural groups. i grew up with this people but i do not know much of their cultural roots (some of themselves forgot theirs too). they are also wonderful people, especially their language. so, to start, i am learning their language—at least, one Mandaya word a day.
naunsa ka?/what happened to you?/anong nangyari sa yo? = yama uno kaw?
