I finally stepped in Tawi-Tawi on a rainy day. Grinning, I instantly on a look-out for something the island has in distinct. Something closer and more picturesque when Elsan and I were still approaching the island. For one, I only have a disposable flashless camera.
Failing to capture the moments would nevertheless not be too frustrating but still necessary. Im already in the island ready to explore the scenics, the delicacies and most importantly my holy week faith revisiting.
So we went but ended lying on the road bleeding and limping.
We skidded sideward and crashed to a truck, parked by the seabank. Without it, we could have screamed help afloat. It was not near-death though but I found myself struggling to outdo the pain and live. My right ear bled and right shoulder seemingly broke (definitely, not dislocated alike Jepoy).
I know I was in more pain if I were fully conscious. But adrenaline rushed in to ease. I was taken to 2 hospitals - Our Lady Fatima Hospital and the Provincial Hospital. My cut in my right ear was treated and my shoulder was bondaged. Then took pictures of me ''first'' hospital admission since my circumcision.
Now Im back, ready to proceed with the ultimate island adventure. The xray was never too necessary than a delayed trip back to Davao. So I was compelled to leave Tawi-Tawi instantly.
I took the last shots of the local, as proof that I indeed was in the island even for 4 hours. I may have not climbed Bongao Peak and splurged on cheap exotic seafoods but the accident was the closest and most picturesque experience. To add, I have an earscar ahead of photoprints to remind me always.
